The French Currency

The euro is the officially monetary unit of France and a number of other European countries which have adopted it as their common currency. It is divided into 100 cents (which are also referred to as centimes in France).
On January 1, 1999, the eleven countries of Euro-zones adopted the euro as their common currency. On January 1, 2002, the new euro bills and coins will be issued to the French public.

The symbol for the euro is the Greek letter epsilon €, and is crossed by two short horizontal bars.
